The trail is a self-guided walk around Rosebery Park’s collection of notable trees, effectively forming a small arboretum within the park. The trail identifies 24 different trees, giving visitors information about each species, including its botanical name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project was developed by the Friends of Rosebery Park, who describe the Tree Trail as an important part of the group’s work. Epsom & Ewell Tree Advisory Board (EETAB), the local volunteer organisation dedicated to protecting and promoting trees, has subsequently helped with the trail’s development and updating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rosebery Park itself is a historic public park in Epsom. The land was gifted to the Council by Lord Rosebery in 1913, and the park’s original layout, trees, pond and mixed borders have remained substantially intact. The willows beside the pond were planted in 1915, while a four-tree Centenary Copse was added in 2013, with further planting in 2020 and 2023. EETAB and the Friends group continue to take an active role managing and maintaining these new trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
